About

I live in Sackville, NB with my wife Stacey and our two sons fantastically weird sons, Caleb and Tolkien. I am currently into what I like to call my second running career. Formerly a middle distance runner in high school and university, I drifted away from the sport for over a decade. I allowed myself to get way off track both physically and mentally for far too long. Tired of being out of shape, he decided to get back into running.

In the fall of 2011 at 175 pounds I started the Beachboy Insanity program to kick start my cardio and to lose weight with the goal to get back into running constantly pushing him.

By June of 2012, after two full rounds of Insanity and several weeks of training, I completed my first 5 km race since 1996 and was at 150 pounds. With a great deal of determination, the support of my awesome family and a terrific coach and mentor (Chuck Dixon), by October of 2013, I completed his first marathon at the age of 37.

Since then, I have completed many other races of various distances, including over 20 half marathons and 2 more full marathons. In October 2015, I finished the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon in 3:28.23 – 21 minutes faster than my second marathon.

I saw your RT’d comment to Simon W on Twitter, and thought “hey, the Bogtrotters are a thing again?”. Now I see that it’s the one and only Paul Merrigan!! Awesome! Looking forward to reading your blog. You may not remember me, I was called Aaron Webb back in our MtA days and I think maybe we were in SUSHI together? I remember hanging out in some way in my first couple years.
